Sound City
Sound City – The highs and lows!
Saturday had arrived and I had my Saturday day ticket for Sound City. Drenched in depression and anxiety I was finding it hard to prepare myself to get my arse into gear, anyone who’s seen the size of my arse knows it needs about 700 break horse power, to move it.
Finally bathed I chose my Sound City costume, Combat jeans, converse pumps Adidas originals t shirts and adidas tracky top ......sorted. I was going to get a Taxi in but after my mate Andy who went early on in the day, told me it was a tenner, I quickly done the maths and worked out if I took the bus to town and then shuttle bus to event I would save myself the price of water downed fosters.
I arrived at the Empire theatre at 2.53pm just in time for the 3pm bus until i seen a sign on temporary bus stop saying next sound City bus 3.30pm (cheeky Bar stewards). So I quickly popped over to Ma Edgerton’s for a pint of cold lager, that cost me £3.45.......It was a taste of things to come.
Pint devoured, I was back at the bus stop, waited for Sound City bus, as bus turned up and I was about to get on it I stopped a friend of mine, Luke Cusato, a singer song writer from Ellesmere Port (no he hasn’t got 3 eyes). I got a selfies on the bus with and sent it to his manager/ my friend Kerry Turley (she’s a little ledge).
I arrived at Festival, bumped into another person I know, Sonny, like me musically he knows his shit! Had a little chat and moved on. First band I got to see was some band with Serpent in the name, Ian Skelly and some guy from the Zutons (not Dave McCabe as my mate Andy told me). Oh yeah I found Andy as well who informed me he was buy the food stall, The Life of Pie! They should have called it Sky high pie at £4.50 for a fucking pie? Glastonbury prices........erm its some old cobbled Dock!
As I’m Hung-over and can’t be arsed writing a war and peace blog. So I’ll wrap it up! Sound City had a great Atmosphere, some really good unknown bands as well. Unknown Mortal orchestra weren’t as good as I expected but i was blaming sound set up. Garden City Movement were awesome, they’re like an electro band! Well cool! Flaming Lips were great as well although never stuck around for end of set.
Highs:
1. Good atmosphere
2. Good music
Lows
1. £4.50 for a watered down pint of Fosters
2. £6.50 for a Burger
3. People wearing Wellies
4. A 26 year old stuner disappearing into the crowd after think I was in.
5. My head this morning when I woke up
6. The music stages being too close to each other and sound interacting rather annoyingly
But on the whole I had a good time!
